1. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for American women. Your risk increase if you have high blood pressure or have diabetes.

2. Pap Test or Pap smears are required annually for women to detect abnormal cells changes that could lead to cervical cancer.

3. Mammograms. Women aged 40 and older should have mammograms every one or two years, but earlier if there is a family history of breast cancer. Breast self examinations can be done at home, but ask your doctor to teach you how to do it properly.

4. Colonoscopy is a procedure doen by a doctor to exam the inside of the rectum and entire colon for signs of cancer, polyps or small growths. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in men and women in the US.

5. Skin examations to detect skin cancer and changes in moles or developing new moles.
