This is something I'm just thinking off the top of my head. How open are you to alternative medicine?
Think about it for a while. Every healthy food we eat, fruits, veggies etc. are all beneficial to us in some ways. Many times we don't know why it's good for us we just know it taste good and we enjoy it. Fair enough.
I often wondered if people who have chronic illnesses have considered alternative medicines. Let me share something with you. This isn't an endorsement of the product or anything, merely my experience with it. Back 2002 I tried this product called Limu Moui. Limu Moui is a sea plant found on the islands of Tonga. It's an immune booster, it is loaded with antioxidants, polyphenols, amino acids, glyconutrients, vitamins and minerals and Fucoidan which is an immuno-supporting nutrient.
So I tried this product which is a green liquid, the same colour as kiwi and it has a bit of a zip, but not foul tasting. I took one ounce in the morning and one ounce in the evening. I suffer from hayfever and I am allergic to cats. After several months of taking this I realized I was able to be in a house with a cat without getting all sneezy and wheezy for several hours! Keep in mind whenever I'm in a house with a cat, I have to take an antihistamine or I suffer the consequences within five minutes. Now this is comparatively small than say someone who has a chronic illness. It's a huge difference and it can't be compared. I also experienced it helped with normal fatigue. Normally I would be exhausted and hit the couch to literally doze off, but although I felt fatigued I was mentally and physically alert. It was really a strange feeling and I was pleasantly surprised.
Some people said it helped with their fibromyalgia. As a matter of fact, it disappeared! It's hard to say how many people it helped with their ailments or lessen the severity of their problems. I never got the chance to speak with anyone personally about their health problems and how Limu helped them.
Limu is just one of the products. There are Goji juice and mangosteen and whatever else.
I think it's just something to consider and be open to.

I have to find you this website that showed what a scam one of these juices is (it's not the one you're posting about). I'm very leery of products that claim they can cure everything. But I am open to things like Fish Oil and Flax Seed.
I want proof and need to be careful of my something reacting with my meds too. I'm hoping that there are some real studies on Alternative Medicine and therapies soon from reliable medical universities.
Sophia, I love your blog. Love the colors you chose. Very nice job.
You have some interesting reading here.
I think I may know which one you're talking about. It may have been the mangosteen one...I can't remember. Until I have walked in your shoes or someone else's, I have no idea what you go through and deal with each day.
I do like to think whether it's Chinese herbal medicines or other non-traditional medicines are out there to help lessen the severity of the health problem. I don't believe there are miracle antidotes that can cure all, but I do know certain foods benefit us a lot more than others.
Thank you Darlene! And welcome to the blogging world. You're going to have so much fun.

Depending on your perspective, "alternative meds" could really be a misnomer. "Traditional" medicine, as practiced in the U.S., is really "chemical" medicine; and by the time I listen to all the potential side effects, I'd prefer to 1) ride out the illness, or 2)treat with more natural "alternative" meds.
But not always. Today, I'm on the first of a five-day round of Tamiful, a med prescribed for strain of flu not countered by the usual vaccine. Ugh.
Sophia, Thanks for a great blog!
Ready Maid, gotta say I agree about the misnomer here. While I believe that there is a place for our westernized medicine, many of the drugs offered (and heavily promoted) by the pharmaceutical companies are really laboratory fabricated versions of just one or two constituents from an effective plant based remedy like an herb or essential oil. The effectiveness of many of these "natural" products is due to the synergies of their multiple constituents.
In short, I love the "alternative" approach. No one thing is a cure all for all things for all people, but there are many excellent products out there that may be of great benefit (without so many side-effect concerns) to many people. I'll keep promoting the great ones of which I am aware.
Thanks for dropping by Lynn. I appreciate your feedback.
