When a woman gets her annual pap test done, the doctor will also do a breast exam and then do a pelvic and pap test. She/he will also feel around your abdomen for signs of abnormalities. It's extremely important for women to do tummy self exams on a monthly basis. What you're looking for is any hard masses that may likely be ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is known as the silent killer because by the time it becomes known it has passed the treatable stage. Of course there are signs, but these signs may mean other things.
Along with doing Breast Self Examinations (BSE) on a monthly basis, don't forget to do tummy self exams too.
There's no guide on how to do tummy self exams, at least I didn't find any, but lay on back and relax your tummy muscles. Press firmly around your tummy area. If there's something there, I'm quite sure you will feel something hard. To be on the safe side, get it checked out right away and don't delay getting your annual pap test done.
