Lower Blood Cholesterol with Exercise

Thursday, 26 August, 2010

Daily exercise doesn't only help people manage their weight, but it helps in maintaining a lower blood cholesterol level.

The causes of high blood cholesterol are from various factors like genetics, high fat diet, lack of exercise, obesity and in women hormones. Women get a natural boost of HDL (good cholesterol) from their hormones until they reach menopause.

Changing your eating habits is a necessity too if you were eating a lot of high fat content foods. Here's what you can do to lower blood cholesterol naturally:

*Have no more than 3 eggs per week or eat egg whites only
*Cut the fats from meats
*Eat a smaller portion of meats and choose lean meats (chicken, pork, beef etc.)
*Drink skim milk or 1% milk
*Eat canned sardines to boost your HDL and it's also rich in omega-3 fatty acids
*Eat smaller portions of ice-cream or choose sorbets
*Choose low-fat dairy products
*Bake, broil or roast your meat instead of frying; remove the skin on chicken
*Eat more fruits and vegetables
*Eat fish at least once a week
*Choose margarine over butter
*Eat more starch and fibre
*Have more home cooked meals

*Exercise daily for at least an hour or break it down to two 30 minutes. Any type of physical exercise is good for you like biking, hiking, jogging, walking, swimming, tennis, etc.

*Read labels! It's amazing what you will learn about foods when you read labels.

Downsizing To Focus On What's Important

Wednesday, 11 August, 2010
Now couldn't be a better time to rethink about what's important in life. Summer has been super crazy with a lot of things happening especially in my personal life and then the loss of a very dear beautiful soul.

Doing something very minor like deleting an excess email account does wonders. It's amazing that eliminating something (as small and trivial as it is) can make a difference. I really believe the motto of "work smarter, not harder". I have also given some thought about this blog. My presence on this blog has been few and far between. I need to go back to my original thought when I started this blog...that it would be a blog that I did for fun and on my terms.

Three years ago I didn't have as many working opportunities that I have now. Writing now is one of my main jobs. I ghostwrite, I blog on two other blogs - one being a business blog and the other a non-priority. I'm an Internet and an article marketer and I work several smaller paying gigs that involve writing. Come to think of it, that's a lot of writing for someone whose writing is not their craft.

I'm still trying to think this out. I think I need to release some businesses that aren't working for me and focus on things that are working and are rewarding.

Life is too short.

"Work smarter, not harder."

Do you have an oversized full plate and what are you doing about it?
