Dandelion Flower Fritters

Saturday, 16 April, 2011
As you may know or not know dandelion has wonderful health benefits. The flower itself contains antioxidant.

I've never heard of making or eating dandelion flower fritters until yesterday. There are plenty of dandelions growing in my yard so I don't have to travel far to pick these horrible weeds wonderful herbs.

Twitter is a great site to learn about all sorts of things and Amber Strocel brought it to my attention about how delicious dandelion flower fritters are.

There are two methods of making them. One using the flower or picking off the petals and mixing them in a batter such as pancakes, muffins or what not.

Amber shared with me this site for dandelion flower fritters recipe. Funny enough it doesn't say to wash them, but I would considering I know what animals may be doing their business on my yard. I have a very smelly intruder who visits often...so yeah...I would wash the flowers.

Have you tried dandelion flower fritters? If you have, please share what you think of them and how you prepared them.

Thank you Aleks. :)

I just picked a bunch from my yard, but I didn't bring them in the house...they went in the yard trimmings bin. There were some HUGE dandelions.

I never knew that dandelion is a good health benefit. It is my favorite flower but never comes in my mind that I could benefit from them too. I will definitely picks from my backyard and try this one. I will try it on muffins as you suggested. Hmm..I could smell the scent of this one.

I've used dandilion root as a herb (it's great for ridding oneself of water weight). I've had the leaves in salad many, many times. I've drunk the wine. But I've only watched chipmunks eat the flowers. The urge to eat them escapes me.
