Drink Water For Dry Lips

I should have known better. I bring water with me wherever I go; at least most times I do. Last weekend was an exception and now I'm paying for it. Dry lips! They are so dry that it feels like I have an outer lip. Ever have that feeling? It's not pleasant.

There are two things I think may have caused it.

1. Dehydration
2. Burnt lips

I'm leaning more towards dehydration, BUT I've been guzzling water every day. How dehydrated am I??

Or, I could have burnt my lips last weekend which was very warm outside. I can't live without lip balm, but I didn't have the right lip balm on. I used a natural lip balm. Did I tell you it's raspberry flavoured and smells delicious? I also have a SPF 30 which, of course, would have helped my cause. Ugh! Why didn't I use that one?

Like I said, I'm paying for it.

Sorry, I can't type anymore. I have to drink my water.

If you have any natural home remedies, please comment below. I would love to hear what has worked for you.

Home Remedies For Dermatitis

Tuesday, 5 July, 2011
It's just one of those things if you suffer from allergies like hayfever and asthma, you may suffer from a skin disorder like eczema or psoriasis. My husband and I both have allergies. We both suffer from hayfever. My husband had psoriasis and it runs in his family. I was diagnosed with asthma in 2003. I also suffer from atopic dermatitis which I have through my genes given to my daughter.

The term dermatitis falls under the umbrella term eczema as there are different types of dermatitis. Dermatitis is a very itchy and inflammatory skin condition mostly found in the crease of the elbow, other parts of the arm or legs and sometimes on the face. Besides the vast itchiness, it becomes really inflamed and blister-like. It may ooze pus and then crust over. The irritated area can become scaly and flaky and if it's not treated it can spread. It's not contagious if it's touched by another person, but the dermatitis can spread on the affected person.

If you went to see a doctor, they would most likely prescribe a hydrocortisone cream and in the past I have used such creams effectively. With that being said, this blog leaning more towards a natural remedy here are some tips or ways to treat dermatitis.

*Avoid the sun. In the summer it's extremely hard, but try to stay out of the sun as much as possible.

*Avoid using harsh soaps and hot water. This is a given as both of these will make dermatitis worse.

*Avoid the allergens that causes dermatitis. It could be a certain type of material you're allergic to like silver, latex, plastic, perfumes etc. It can also be brought on by stress.

Skin cells requires a large amount of zinc and when your body is zinc deficient it can cause dermatitis. To boost your immune system take vitamin C and E, selenium and zinc. You can take zinc orally or apply it to the affected area.
