Obviously I was quite good at avoiding the cold when hubby or my daughter had it all those times, but I guess this time around it finally got me (thanks, hubby! I love you too! *Geez, doesn't it just reek of sarcasm?*). I had a scratchy throat for about a day and a half. What I don't like about it, (not that anyone I know would like it) the scratchy feeling makes me cough and cough and cough some more. What's worse is I'm asthmatic so that's why I avoid hubby and daughter like the plague when they have colds.
I was bad. I went into my cupboard and took an over-the-counter cough medicine. Egads! I know it contradicts to what I'm trying to achieve in my life and on this blog, but weakness won this time.
The day I got my scratchy throat I went on my search for some comfort. I know you can gargle with warm salt water, drink hot water with honey and lemon, take vitamin C and zinc, drink lots of water, get plenty of rest and suck on Ricola all day long. Well, the latter is not true at all because there is a limit on how many you should take. Anyways, I also found I should be eating raw garlic cloves. I love garlic...cooked, roasted, whatever, but raw? I don't know; I've never eaten raw garlic before. Do I nibble on it like it's a piece of white chocolate or do I put the whole clove in my mouth and chew it??
My hubby is completely congested and I suggested to him the wet sock treatment. Of course, he looked at me like I was crazy. If I get to that point, I may just try it out myself.
