Homemade Natural Beauty Products

Wednesday
With so many natural products out there, why would anyone buy beauty products with ingredients they can't even pronounce? The ingredients you can't pronounce are seeping into your pores and into your system. Sounds gross to me. Buying products that are natural and with ingredients you can pronounce can get expensive over time. For me, it's worth the price knowing that I'm not using products that are harmful to me, but like I said it gets expensive, but there's a remedy to that. Make your own!

Many items you'll find in your kitchen and if not, buying them isn't expensive especially when it can be used for other things.

Face Mask
Honey has great health benefits. It's an antioxidant and antimicrobial.

Mix together a few tablespoons of honey with some mashed carrots, mashed avocado, and a beaten egg. Apply to your face and let it sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing off with cool water.

You can also add finely chopped herbs like sage, mint, and parsley or a few drops of essential oils.

Body Exfoliator
Mix 1/2 cup of olive oil and natural sea salt together and apply to rough areas on your body like the your feet, elbows and hands. Rinse with warm water.

Lip Balm
This is fun and not hard to make, and you'll probably find a few of these ingredients in your pantry.

To Buy:
*Small lip balm tins or lip balm tubes
*Eyedropper if you're using lip balm tubes
*Beeswax
*Carrier oil - coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba, vitamin E oil
*Honey
*Scented essential oils (optional)

I don't have exact measurements, but a general guide is 3 parts carrier oil and 1 part beeswax. To make the beeswax melt faster, you can buy them in pellets or beads or you can grate it or finely chop it.

You can use a small saucepan or glass pyrex measuring cup over a double boiler for melting the beeswax and carrier oil. If you like you can add about a teaspoon of honey to the mixture. Once melted, remove it from the heat. Now, you can add a couple drops of your favourite scented oil. Carefully pour it into your tins or tubes. Let it cool.

You may not get it right the first time and if you find your lip balm is too soft, add more beeswax and if it's too hard, add more oil.

Hair Treatment
To revitalize your hair, mash one medium avocado with 3 tablespoons of honey. Apply to hair and leave on for about 20-30 minutes. Wash hair as usual.

Face Toner
Take the juice from half a lemon and beat together with one egg white. Apply it to your face and leave on for 30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

Hi Travis,

Thanks for dropping by and leaving me a comment. :) What does your Mom use for her scar? I have some scars I would like to diminish.
